40th edition of the Antwerp 10 Miles

Finally got a bib for the 40th Antwerp 10 Miles and aiming for a PR ten years after my first start.

Antwerp 10 Miles, 40th edition (2026)

On 29 March 2016, I bought my first ticket for the Antwerp 10 Miles. That was ten years ago now. The race itself took place on 17 April 2016, and at the time it felt like a serious milestone.

I ran the Antwerp 10 Miles again in 2017. That same year, things escalated quickly: two half marathons followed, and another one in 2018. Apparently, I was briefly convinced that this was my new normal.

Then came a long gap.

Running became something occasional. A short run here and there, and mostly Urban Trails. Those remain great fun, especially if you have never done one. They are more about experience than performance, which suited that phase perfectly.

In 2025, something clicked again. I decided it was time to properly lace up my running shoes. Registrations for the Antwerp 10 Miles 2025 sold out in just two days, and I missed the window entirely, ending up on the waiting list without a ticket.

To make up for missing that spot, I ran two half marathons in October 2025: one as preparation for the other, and the second because I saw an ad in the local gym. Apparently, analogue ads still work.

On 17 December 2025, registrations opened for the 2026 edition, which also happens to be the 40th edition. Despite adding capacity for an extra 10,000 runners, the event sold out in 58 minutes.

This time, I got a ticket.

That means 2026 will be the year I finally run the Antwerp 10 Miles again. The goal is simple: enjoy the race, but also try to beat my personal record. Ten years after my first edition, and somehow only my third time running it, which still feels oddly low.

I still train with my Apple Watch using the standard Apple Workout app. My runs are synced via HealthFit to TrainAsOne, which gives me an adaptive training plan, based on my condition and moments I do actually run. It works remarkably well, as long as I stop postponing runs and actually follow the plan.

I wrote more about that setup here: Apple Watch Workout with smart workout training plan.

Are you running this edition of the Antwerp 10 Miles? Let me know!

PS: I still need to get personalised running gear. Time to sort that out as well.
